West Ashley is located just west of the Ashley River and is bordered to the south by the Intracoastal Waterway / Stono River and to the north by the Ashley River. The area is comprised primarily of established neighborhoods and homes all with quick access to historic downtown Charleston. West Ashley residents have access to numerous golf, tennis, swimming and boating opportunities as well as shopping and restaurants. If biking or walking is your preference for outdoor activity, the West Ashley Greenway connects miles of subdivisions along its 10.5 mile route. West Ashley is also home to Charles Towne Landing state park where in 1670 the English colonists first settled in the Carolinas and formed Charles Towne.
